Greetings, Conscious Bookkeeping community! My name is Caroline Donahue, and I am so excited to be your guide on this fabulous blog. I am a long time student of Bari's and have been so delighted to apply the methods and philosophy of Conscious Bookkeeping in both my personal finances as well as my business.

Each week, I will be sharing inspiring and informative discoveries to support your relationship to your finances. I am really excited about this project. Please do share your thoughts in the comments about how this material strikes you, as well as the sorts of things you would love to see here.

 So... let's get started!

Ramit Sethi

This week, I want to share a wonderful post from a rising star in the personal financial planning world: Ramit Sethi. He has a new NY Times Bestselling book out: I Will Teach You To Be Rich, which has the same title as his website and blog. Through practical tips and humor, Sethi is a great voice of support and encouragement in working with your finances.

The post I want to share is one that he wrote for Tim Ferriss (Author of the 4 Hour Workweek), which focuses on setting up automated systems for savings and finances.

What I feel is so relevant about this post is that, as Sethi points out, many of us make the mistake of believing that financial issues are all about self-discipline and that if we aren't managing our money well, we must be somehow weak. Not so, Sethi says. We can make it easy on ourselves by making saving an automatic process that we don't have to think about.

Why not make this process easier? Putting structures in place that do the heavy lifting for you is a great way to release guilt and shame around money management. Give yourself the gift of reading and trying out his ideas. I certainly breathed a big sigh of relief from this fresh perspective.

 Until next week!
